Assistants are saved instructions that give Llama a role, such as tutor, editor or interviewer. Start one in a click or create your own.
An assistant is a saved set of instructions that tells Llama what role to play and how to work. Instead of explaining every time that you want a patient tutor, a strict editor or a realistic job interviewer, you pick the assistant and start talking. Llama follows its instructions for the whole conversation, and you can switch back to the plain chat at any time.
Below you will find sixteen ready-made assistants for common jobs: writing, translating, coding, studying, emails, summaries, brainstorming, cooking, travel, careers, marketing, explaining official documents, healthy habits, language practice, editing and mock interviews. Each card shows what the assistant does and offers example questions. Press Start chat to open the Llama chat with that assistant active.
The assistants change how the model behaves, not which model answers. They work with all four Llama models in our chat, and you can still choose the model in the menu. Some assistants deliberately set limits: the Healthy Habits Guide gives general information, not medical advice, and the Plain-Language Explainer helps you understand documents but does not replace a lawyer.
In the chat, open Assistants and choose Create assistant. Give it a name and a short description, then write the instructions: who the assistant is, what it should do, what tone to use, and what it should ask you when information is missing. Add a few conversation starters if you like. Your assistants are saved in your browser together with your chats, and they are included when you export your data.
Good instructions are specific. "Be helpful" does little; "You review my Spanish texts, correct mistakes, explain each correction in English in one line, and never rewrite my style" works much better. Our guide on how to write prompts has more tips, and the prompt library is a good source of ideas.
