AI Text Summarizer
Paste a long text and get the essentials in the shape you need: bullets, a short paragraph, an outline, or decisions and tasks pulled out of meeting notes.
What the Summarizer does
Long texts pile up: reports you were asked to read, articles saved for later, a message thread that grew to forty replies, the transcript of a lecture. The Summarizer pulls out what matters so you can decide what deserves a close read. Paste the text, pick a shape for the summary and a length, and you get the main ideas, key facts and conclusions without the repetition.
The tool runs on Llama 4 Maverick, an open-weight model from Meta, through a cloud inference provider. It is instructed to stay faithful to the source: no outside facts, no opinions of its own, and no answering questions that happen to be inside the text.
How to use it
- Paste the text into the box. Copy it from a web page, a document or a message thread. The counter next to the label shows how much room is left.
- Choose a format.
- Bullet points: the main points as a quick list.
- Paragraph: plain prose you can drop into a report or message.
- One line + key points: one bold sentence that sums up everything, then the details.
- Outline with headings: the structure of the text, part by part. Handy for chapters and lecture notes.
- Decisions and to-dos: the main points plus a separate list of decisions, tasks and deadlines. Made for meeting notes.
- Set the length: very short (the three most important points), standard (around five points) or detailed (every part covered).
- Press Generate. Copy the summary, Regenerate it, or Continue in chat to ask questions about the text.
Tips for sharper summaries
- Clean up before pasting. Menus, ads, cookie notices and comment sections copied along with an article confuse the summary. Paste only the body text.
- Match the format to the job. Outline for study notes, decisions and to-dos for meetings, one line + key points when you need to brief someone quickly.
- Break up very long documents. If the text does not fit, summarize it section by section, then paste the section summaries together and summarize those.
- Ask the follow-up. In the chat you can ask "What reasons does the author give for point 3?" or "Which numbers does the report mention?"
Example
Input (meeting notes): Weekly sync, Tuesday. Website redesign: Ana shares the new homepage mockups on Thursday. The payment page bug is fixed and live. We agreed to delay the newsletter until the redesign launches. Karim will ask the printer for a new quote by Friday. Open question: do we still need the old blog section?
Output (Decisions and to-dos, standard):
Main points: The website redesign is in progress and the payment page bug has been fixed. Whether to keep the old blog section is still open.
Decisions, tasks and deadlines: Newsletter postponed until the redesign launches. Ana shares homepage mockups on Thursday. Karim gets a new printer quote by Friday.
What to keep in mind
- A summary leaves things out by design. A detail that looks minor may matter to you. For contracts, medical information or money decisions, read the original.
- Check names and numbers. AI models can occasionally mix up who said what or overstate a conclusion. Compare key facts with the source; our guide on fact-checking AI answers explains a quick routine.
- No links or files. The tool reads only the text you paste. It cannot open a URL or a PDF, and it cannot browse the internet.
- Private documents. The text is sent through our server to the model provider to create the summary. Do not paste anything you are not allowed to share.
FAQ
Is the Summarizer free?
Yes, with no account. Each summary uses one message from the free daily allowance that the chat and all tools share; it resets daily.
How long can my text be?
The box takes a few thousand characters, about the length of a long article. For books or long reports, work through them in sections.
Can it summarize text in other languages?
Yes. The summary comes back in the language of the text you paste. If you need it in another language, run the result through the Translator.
Can I summarize a long document with Llama 4 Scout instead?
The tool always uses Maverick, but the chat lets you pick Llama 4 Scout, which has the longest context of our models. Paste a longer text there and ask for a summary, or start with a summary prompt.
Can I turn the summary into a post or email?
Yes. Paste the main points into the Email Writer or the AI Writer and describe what you need.
